Technical Authoring and documentation updates

SafeMech can provide a Technical Authoring Service. We can help you to prepare operating instructions which meet the requirements of the Machinery Directive and also give a good impression of your products.

A badly written user manual can give a bad impression of your equipment and if the information it contains is not clear or wrong, it can actually be dangerous!

We can provide a technical authoring service for manuals and operating instructions, either for development of complete new documentation or improvement of the translation of existing manuals.

We can provide updated manuals for renovated or secondhand machines.

We can also provide electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic control circuit diagrams.

One of our specialities is tracing circuits in old machines and producing new circuit diagrams to facilitate fault finding and further renovation work in future.

Because we are literate ENGINEERS, rather than merely literate, we UNDERSTAND what we are writing about! That gives a better final result.

We have links with other companies which can provide technically competent translations into other languages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I am selling equipment outside the EU. Must I provide a translated manual?
A. It is a requirement of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC that user manuals must be provided in the language of the user.

Q. Are there formal requirements for the content of manuals?
A. Machinery Directive includes a list of necessary content for operation and maintenance manuals. Most C type (product specific) standards also include recommended content for manuals. Our article Contents for manuals contains more information about this.
